Mashantucket — A Rhode Island woman was arrested Saturday after police discovered that she left four children unattended for 14 hours at Foxwoods Resort & Casino.

Ranoum Sam, 37, of Cranston, R.I., was charged with risk of injury after she left her 14-year-old daughter, 9-year-old niece and 7- and 6-year-old nephews in her car when she arrived at the casino at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Fourteen hours later, the children were found in the casino by police. Sam did not make contact with the children and they were without food and supervision during those hours, according to police.

Sam had previously been ejected from the casino and was also charged with first–degree criminal trespass.

Police notified the Department of Children and Families and the children were left in the custody of Sam’s husband. She was released on a $245 cash bond.
